One of Indian cinema’s most ambitious upcoming productions, Ramayana: Part One, is bringing the legendary story of Rama and Ravana to the big screen for audiences around the world.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, with Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.

A Major Two-Part Production

The film is produced by Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The story is being developed as a two-part cinematic project, with the first chapter arriving in 2026 and the second following in 2027.

The scale of the production, its visual effects and its international creative team have made Ramayana one of the most closely watched Indian film projects in development.

Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman Join Forces

Another major attraction is the music. Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer and acclaimed Indian composer A.R. Rahman are collaborating on the project, bringing together two internationally recognised names in film music.

Ramayana Goes Global

The filmmakers are positioning Ramayana as a global cinematic experience rather than a production aimed only at the Indian market. The film has been created for audiences around the world, introducing the epic story to a new generation while bringing a familiar tale to the screen on a much larger scale.

With its major cast, international creative talent and large-scale production, Ramayana: Part One is set to be one of the most significant Indian cinema releases of 2026.
